Vancouver Resource Referral - Healthy Divorce Options

(February 24, 2012 , posted in Local Information)

I have a wonderful resourse in my network that I would like to introduce you to.

"Healthy Divorce Options" is a team of collaborative professionals dedicated to help you sort out one of the most difficult transitions in life – separation and divorce. No one gets married with the intention of divorcing but this is a common reality for many couples and families in our community. You may have heard horror stories about trauma created by conflict and court battles as couples divorce. We are convinced that family separation doesn't have to cause long-term damage to you or your children. As a group, we are dedicated to help you examine options as you and your partner contemplate how to best handle this transition.

The Healthy Divorce Options team consists of Catherine Brink, Collaborative Divorce Lawyer and Mediator (, John Boland, Mental Health Divorce Coach and Child Specialist (, and Patricia LaLonde, Financial Specialist (

They would like to invite you to attend one of their free informal Fireside Chats that take place in the Lounge of the Sylvia Hotel off English Bay from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month.

Meet Catherine, John and Patricia on February 28, March 27, April 24, or May 29. They hope to meet you at one of these Tuesday evenings at the Sylvia, 1154 Gilford St, West End, in Vancouver. Look for the three of them with their white Collaborative Divorce nametags.

Some of the information that you can expect to gather at one of their “Fireside Chats” includes:

Exploration of the kinds of legal issues you may need to consider, and the various options to create a legally binding separation agreement, from kitchen table negotiations, to collaborative divorce and mediation, and litigation.

Ideas on how to minimize your children's and your own personal emotional stress as you work through this transition.

Specific advice on how to protect yourself financially both now and for the long term as you make decisions about family assets, child support, etc.

Concrete advice on how to minimize the emotional, financial, and social damage to yourself and your whole family.

Please feel free to contact one of the Healthy Divorce Options team if you have any questions. Alternatively, contact me and I will assist you with any questions or refer you to the right person as necessary.
